Candace Nelson
Candace Nelson is a very famous baker in the cupcake world. She even started the very first cupcake bakery! She is also a judge on the show Cupcake Wars on food network, and more. To start off, Candace Nelson was born in 1974, in Indonesia. Her family had a history of baking, as her grandmother was known for the delectable desserts that were served at her restaurant in the 1930’s. She participated in the Tante Marie’s Professional Pastry Program after she graduated from college. She soon married Charles Nelson. They worked as investment bankers until the “dot com bust” when they decided to start their own bakery. They called it Sprinkles Cupcakes, and opened it in the April of 2005. The reason that this bakery was such a big deal was because it was the world’s first cupcake bakery (meaning they only served cupcakes). It was a hit, and they sold 2000 cupcakes in the first week! With time, they opened 9 more locations throughout the U.S. Along with Florian Bellanger, Nelson judges the Food Network show, Cupcake Wars. She has also guest starred on the show, Best Thing I Ever Ate. All in all, Nelson is one of my chef inspirations and I hope you can agree!!
